Michael Gaughan Jr. to take over Rampart Casino management

Michael Gaughan Jr. will take over management of the Rampart Casino on April 1, when Cannery Casino Resorts steps out at the end of a 10-year agreement.

Gaughan, a third-generation member of the well-known gaming family, took over in August as general manager of the adjacent JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa in Summerlin.

Ownership of the mortgage on the property is now being contested in a New York court. Because the hotel defaulted on the loan last year, the people or entities who control the mortgage could end up owning it.

However, the hotel management has mapped out an upgrade program for the coming year, which includes the casino, restaurant menus and events to draw patrons.
