National retailer may be headed to Village Square

Village Square will soon be home to a national retailer, if negotiations pan out.

Rumors have been circling the new retailer will be a Nordstrom Rack, but the center's property managers say it isn't so. Talk started swirling around Las Vegas when a rendering of Nordstrom Rack went up on an outside facade meant to celebrate the coming renovations to the West Sahara Avenue shopping area.

Colby Durnin, principal of Sentinel Development, Village Square's property management, said it was just a picture, and it has been taken down.

When asked directly if Nordstrom Rack was the new, national retailer with which Village Square is in negotiations, Durnin responded, "I absolutely wish," then laughed.

A call to Nordstrom's representative was not returned.

What's clear is that 808 Tapas is opening in July, and the 1,600-square-foot Maka Beauty Systems and 5,200-square-foot ReMax Realty will be open within 30 to 60 days. Other leases are still in the works.

"We're in talks with a national retailer that's very, very positive about the center," Durnin said.

Previously reported center improvements are scheduled to begin within 45 days.

"Within the next four months you'll really see a transformation of the center. We're very excited about the changes coming," Durnin said.
