Six gates at McCarran’s Concourse C will reopen
For the first time in more than two years, Concourse C at McCarran International Airport will be largely free of construction.
Six gates will reopen today on the east side of the building, which is completely occupied by Southwest Airlines, marking the end of a $13 million interior renovation that replaced carpets, lights, ceiling tiles and signs and upgraded bathrooms. Work continues on four new concessions on the west side, but the project, which started in May 2011, finished several weeks early.
Southwest will shift flights from Concourse B back to C. The only occupants of B will be a small portion of Southwest's schedule, Spirit Airlines and tiny Omni International Airlines.
The $29.3 million repaving of the apron around Concourse C, which also temporarily took gates out of commission, began in July 2010 and finished earlier this year.
