Target shutting one store in Las Vegas, another in North Las Vegas

Target says it will be shutting one store in Las Vegas and another in North Las Vegas in early May.

The company says the two stores are among eight locations across the country that are being eliminated after Target reviewed each site’s financial performance.

Company spokesman Matias Cavallin says one location is at 278 S. Decatur Blvd., and the other is at 2189 W. Craig Road in North Las Vegas. Officials say certain employees will be offered a chance to transfer to a nearby store.

The announcement came the same day Target announced a credit card data breach was larger than previously thought.

Company officials say hackers stole personal information from as many as 70 million customers in the pre-holiday breach, up from the 40 million reported last month.
