Trial date over timeshare construction delayed
September 27, 2012 - 2:13 pm
The start of the trial to sort out competing billing and defects claims that arose from construction of the time share tower formerly known as the PH Towers Westgate has been postponed until Wednesday.
The trial, scheduled to start Thursday, it was put on hold the previous day to finalize a settlement between subcontractor Conti Electric and developer Westgate Resorts. No terms were announced.
The case focuses on the 52-floor, 1,201-unit tower billed as the world's largest time share and now flagged as Hilton Grand Vacations. It is attached to the Planet Hollywood Resort.
General contractor Tutor-Saliba Corp. sued Westgate for payment of $23.3 million in unpaid bills. Westgate countered with a $30 million claim for shoddy work, finishing more than three months late and overbillings.
It is unclear whether the Conti settlement will affect those numbers or shorten the trial.
The tower played a prominent role in the recently released documentary film, "Queen of Versailles."
