Body of student found on East Career and Technical Academy campus

The body of a male high school student was found early Thursday morning on the East Career and Technical Academy campus, according to Clark County School District officials.

The death of the student, a senior whose name was not released, is being investigated by Las Vegas police, district officials said. The body was found before school was in session.

The district’s crisis response team was at the campus, on Vegas Valley Drive near Hollywood Boulevard, on Thursday and Friday, spokeswoman Amanda Fulkerson said.

Counseling was offered to both students and staff.

A cause of death was not available late Thursday, but Fulkerson said, “This tragedy serves as a reminder for our entire community to watch for signs of distress in our young people.”
