Henderson man sentenced for slaying of infant
A 23-year-old Henderson man was formally sentenced Thursday to 20 years to life in prison for the slaying of his girlfriend's 6-week-old son almost three years ago.
A jury found Rayshaun Coleman guilty of first-degree murder in November for the slaying of Tristin Michaels Hilburn, who was found dead with burns on his body. Coleman was watching the boy for his girlfriend, Christal Hilburn-Gaynor at the time.
After a penalty hearing, the same jury sentenced Coleman to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years. He had been eligible for the death penalty.
Hilburn-Gaynor faces one count of child abuse with substantial bodily harm. Her trial is set to begin Jan. 30. dily harm. A trial is set to begin Jan. 30.
