Henderson police investigate slaying of boyfriend as possible self-defense

Detectives were investigating whether a Henderson woman who said she killed her boyfriend last week acted in self-defense.

Henderson police said the 35-year-old woman went to the St. Rose Dominican Hospital, de Lima campus, on Thursday afternoon and said she killed her boyfriend at their home in the 100 block of Judy Lane, near Boulder Highway.

Officers responding to the home found David J. Hudson dead. The 35-year-old man had been strangled, according to the county coroner's office.

The woman told police she choked Hudson with a cord after he attacked and beat her, police said.

She told police she was the victim of constant abuse and her family's life was routinely threatened by Hudson. Detectives noted the woman had visible injuries on her body "in various stages of healing," according to the police statement.

The woman was not identified by police because she has not been arrested or charged with a crime.

The Clark County district attorney's office will determine whether charges are appropriate.

Police said Hudson had been arrested several times on charges such as domestic battery, burglary and drugs. He was arrested in January and accused of punching the woman in the face.

In that incident, the woman told police that Hudson told her to "call her mother and children and tell them goodbye" and that he would "take care of her," police said.

The woman also has a history of drug charges, police said.
