Las Vegas police: Man shot in head near Rainbow at Charleston

A man was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition after being shot near the intersection of Rainbow and Charleston Boulevards, Las Vegas police said.

Police were called to the scene in the 6700 block of Del Rey Avenue at about 4:15 p.m., Thursday and officers found a person who had been shot in the head.

The wound did not initially appear to be life-threatening since the man was able to walk, police said, but his condition began to deteriorate and he was transported to the hospital.

The man, who is in his mid-20s, was shot twice and one of the bullets impacted his skull, police said.

Police continue to investigate.
