Man faces charges of assaulting children in bible study classes

A Bible study leader has been arrested on charges he had sex with children in his classes.

David James, 29, was arrested last month on 10 counts of sexual assault with a minor under 14, two counts of sexual assault with a minor under 16, and 10 counts of lewdness with a minor under 14, Las Vegas police said.

Shortly after his arrest in January, Henderson police investigated allegations of similar crimes. James was rebooked on 10 additional counts of lewdness with a minor under 14 and four counts of sexual assault.

Las Vegas police said James used volunteer Bible study classes at "several different religious centers" to gain access to victims. Police did not disclose the places he had taught.
