A Las Vegas police officer shot a man in the leg late Sunday after responding to a report of a domestic dispute at an east valley park, department officials said.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to University Medical Center and is believed to have sustained non-life- threatening injuries, police said.
A woman called police to the park at 1600 S. Hollywood Blvd. at 10:22 p.m., claiming her ex-boyfriend beat her and damaged her vehicle.
When police arrived, the two individuals were in the woman's vehicle. Police removed the woman from the car. While speaking to the man sitting in the passenger seat of the car, the officer fired at least one round, striking the man in the leg.
The officer was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The officer's identity will be released 48 hours after the shooting, in accordance with department policy.
This was the 10th officer involved shooting this year for the Metropolitan Police Department.
