NHP trooper struck by car while investigating separate accident

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was hit by a car while investigating a separate crash early Sunday morning.

According to Highway Patrol spokesman Loy Hixson, the officer was investigating an accident on Interstate 15 near the Charleston Boulevard off-ramp when a white Volvo struck the trooper’s vehicle. That vehicle hit a second Highway Patrol vehicle and injured the trooper.

The trooper and the 35-year-old Las Vegas driver of the Volvo were treated and released from the hospital, Hixson said.

The driver of the Volvo was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
