Pedestrian dies in early Sunday hit-and-run accident

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning, according to Las Vegas police.

According to a witness, a driver was traveling west on West Sahara Avenue about 1:30 a.m.

A pedestrian was walking on the north sidewalk of West Sahara Avenue, between Las Vegas Boulevard South and Industrial Road, when they either fell or laid down in the right lane of the street, according to police.

The driver struck the pedestrian and failed to stop. The vehicle was described as an early-2000 gray sedan.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been released.

This is the 16th traffic fatality in the LVMPD's jurisdiction this year.
