Saudi sergeant pleads not guilty in sexual assault case
A Saudi Arabia air force sergeant pleaded not guilty in a Nevada state court to abducting and raping a 13-year-old boy at a Strip hotel on New Year's Eve.
A judge on Wednesday set a May 13 trial date for Mazen Alotaibi.
The 23-year-old aircraft mechanic faces nine charges including kidnapping, sexual assault with a minor and lewdness with a child.
He could face life in a Nevada prison if he is convicted.
Defense attorney Don Chairez has said he does not believe the boy's allegations that he was forced into a room at the Circus Circus hotel-casino and raped early Dec. 31.
Chairez alleges the boy offered sex for marijuana and stole Alotaibi's wallet.
Alotaibi is being held at the Clark County jail on $1.72 million bail.
