A request for a mistrial from Dr. Dipak Desai’s defense attorney was not granted. Desai, 63, and co-defender, nurse anesthetist Ronald Lakeman, 65, face more than two dozen charges in relation to a 2007 hepatitis C outbreak that infected six patients. A seventh contaminated patient died.

Police investigating suspicious death in northwest valley

Las Vegas police were investigating a woman’s death Tuesday morning. Her body was found about 11 a.m. on the 8000 block of Green Pasture Avenue, near Lone Mountain and Cimarron roads in the northwest valley.

Services set for teen killed in attempted iPad robbery

A viewing has been set for Thursday afternoon for Marcos Vicente Arenas, the 15-year-old killed while hanging onto his iPad during an attempted robbery last week. On the same day, the two men charged in his death will appear in Las Vegas Justice Court to argue their bail and set a preliminary hearing on murder charges.

Kingman childcare owner sentenced to prison in tax case

A northwest Arizona businesswoman was sentenced Monday to 18 months in federal prison for withholding nearly $320,000 in income taxes between 2004 and 2011. Raycene Osterman is the founder and president of K-Top, Inc., the parent company for three Kiddie Korral daycare centers in the Kingman area.
