A man who shot and wounded a police detective Wednesday and was killed by officers’ return fire was a murder suspect with a lengthy criminal history, sources said. Jason Baires, 23, was a suspect in the beating death of a man Tuesday afternoon. He also had several prior convictions for possession of drugs and stolen goods, court records show.
Two teenagers involved in a paintball shooting spree were confronted in court Tuesday by one of their victims: a 73-year-old Henderson man who relies on a pacemaker to keep his heart beating normally. Afterwards the were sentenced to juvenile facilities.
Police say a man was shot and seriously wounded Tuesday near the downtown area after he swung a knife at an officer. The man, who was in critical condition at University Medical Center, was jaywalking across Fremont Street. He ran into a motel when two officers in a patrol car stopped him.
