Affordable summer care available at YMCA

For parents looking for quality and affordable summer child care, the YMCA’s day camps offer options for campers ages 5 to 15. Kids won’t get bored with the dozens of specialty and sports camps available all summer long.

Art, magic, zoology, karate and cooking are just a few of the optional camps available in addition to the structured activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, group games and character. Campers can even select to participate in weekly field trips. Weekly camp prices start at $140 a week; daily rates are $47.

New this year to all Y summer camps is CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health), a national childhood wellness program the Y is implementing to help combat childhood obesity. With a focus on structured physical fitness activities and nutrition education, CATCH teaches kids of all ages how to live healthier.

YMCA Day Camp runs June 10 through Aug. 23, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the following locations:

n Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane.

n City of Las Vegas Durango Hills Community Center, Operated by the YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive.

n City of Las Vegas Centennial Hills Community Center, Operated by the YMCA, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

n City of North Las Vegas SkyView Multi-Generational Center, Operated by the YMCA, 3050 E. Centennial Parkway.
