Dog found with muzzle taped shut poses for charity — VIDEO

Caitlyn, a 15-month-old Chocolate Staffie mix found with her muzzle taped shut, is looking a lot happier this week in photos taken alongside a firefighter for charity.

When she was found in North Charleston, S.C., in May, her muzzle had been taped shut so tight her tongue was caught between her teeth. Support for the dog came from across the country and Caitlyn had a successful series of treatments and surgeries in the following weeks, CNN reported.

Leonard Dodson, 41, was arrested a week later and faces a charge of ill treatment of an animal involving torture.

In a recent update from the Charleston Animal Society on Facebook, they said Caitlyn was recovering at a foster home.

“I’m a firm believer that an animal knows they have been rescued,” photographer Caroline Eller of the Animal Society to the Huffington Post. “I hope these images show the true bond between a rescue and their rescuer.”

Eller said the medical care costs of the group are about $500,000 per year. The calendar can be pre-ordered here.
