Fine food, beer and wine highlight Splendor in the Glass

Southern Nevada Public Television had its 23rd annual Splendor in the Glass wine and beer tasting Feb. 11 at the LVH-Las Vegas' Hilton Center.
Through the generosity of Southern Wine & Spirits, 60 wineries and brewers combined to offer guests a taste of superior wines while they ate assorted canapes and listened to music by the Lynn Ross Jazz Quintet.
The wine tasting's founding board member, Charlotte Hill, and Tom Axtell, general manager of Vegas PBS, greeted guests including state Sens. Mike Schneider and Barbara Cegavske, Jenny and Terry Care, Calvert Collins, Mitch Fox, Irene Vogel, Bill Curran, Lori Lee, Peggy Smith, Roberta Gardener, Michael Phillips, Bebe Adams, Sean Gamble, Brenda Adamo, Reggie Burton, Kelly McCarthy and Kelly Peterson, president of the Southern Nevada Public Television board of directors.
Tony Goitia auctioned off valuable bottles of wine, and a silent auction offered 95 items.
Chef Julian Serrano of Picasso at Bellagio and Serrano's at Aria made a guest appearance. Serrano prepared a Spanish paella with lobster and chicken.
Seen among the hundreds of guests were Susan Johnson, Kim Christmas, Terri Chapman, Suzett Hill, Natalie and Ronald Colquitt, Richard Colquitt, Ogonna Atamoh, Stacy Harrop , Charli Carter and Peggy Sanders.
United at Tao: More than 250 couples gathered at Tao nightclub in The Venetian for the annual United event sponsored by the Women's Philanthropy Council of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas.
United co-chairwomen for the event were Heather DiChiaro and Ilana Vann. The Women's Philanthropy chairwoman is Rachel Ventura.
All enjoyed food and drink while participating in a silent auction that featured jewelry, dining certificates to some of the hottest Strip restaurants, handbags, show tickets and much more.
The a cappella group Mosaic provided entertainment.
Christian Kolberg conducted a live auction. Lucky winners left with a weekend in New York including airfare, a night out at Crystals at CityCenter, a gorgeous watch by Van Cleef & Arpels, and even a furry little friend from The Animal Foundation.
All funds raised through the event will benefit the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas, which provides financial support to local humanitarian programs.
