Marie Osmond named NBT Woman of the Year

Nevada Ballet Theatre honored singer, author, television personality, Broadway performer and philanthropist Marie Osmond as its Woman of the Year at the 2010 Black and White Ball on Jan. 23 at Paris Las Vegas.

The evening's honorary dinner chair, Don Marrandino of Harrah's, was unable to attend, but dinner co-chairs Jonathan Halkyard of Harrah's and his wife, Kari, joined ballet co-founder and event co-chair Nancy Houssels and Wendy Plaster in greeting the evening's 600 formally attired guests.

Mingling over cocktails during the one-hour reception were Mariam Afshai of Cartier, a sponsor of the ball, and Madeleine Andress, Sharon and Norm Jenkins, Richard Plaster, Keith Boman, Colette Saltz, Rokh Afshai, Irais and Robert Kolesar, Kitty Rodman, Sandee Tiberti, Charlene and Craig Cavileer, Carolyn Sparks, Melissa and Clark Warren, Victoria and Daniel Otter, Christina Hixson, Debra Hood, Maggie and Brian Plaster, Diane Boyle and Richard Worthington.

Celebrity host Robin Leach conducted the "Raise Your Paddle" to raise funds for toe shoes and a new ballet theater dance floor.

Auctioneer Christian Kolberg was assisted by KLUC-FM, 98.5 personality Chet Buchanan as they auctioned off nine packages totaling $40,250.

Nevada Ballet Theatre executive director Beth Barbre and artistic director James Canfield introduced the troupe's dancers who performed "Trois Gnossiennes."

Dinner, entertainment and dancing to the Lon Bronson Band was enjoyed by Vicki Fertitta, Marie Claire Armeni, Linda McKinley, Mary and Elliot Eisner, Dee and Don Snyder, Denise Cashman, Denise and Dan Reichartz, Dana and Myron Martin, Kim Duckworth, Vera Goulet, Tony Estrada, Kathleen and John Giovenco, Tiffany Tiberti, Roisin O'Loughlin, Jeanne Hamrick, Melinda Kennedy, Danette Trevesanno, James Ruggles, Jan Clinton, Becky Behnen, Jack Behnen, Amy Ayoub, Parvin and Ted Jacobs, Jeri and Rick Crawford, Kathleen and Eric Houssels, Vanessa and Josh Houssels, Christina and Alan Feldman, Jason Feinberg, Nancy Barr and Norm Johnson, David Dunn, Laura Hoenemeyer and Jay Barrett, Josie and Joel Snow, Karen and Joe Iglesias, Joele and Michael Corrigan, Thalia Dondero, Paul Murad, Nanette Miller, Rose McKinney James, Stephanie and Steve Stallworth, Kathy and Chip Lightman, Sandra and James Frank, Florence and Gard Jameson, Joan and Ted Halkyard, former Gov. The group Mosaic performed a tribute to Marie Osmond following a video. Alicia Jacobs of KVBC-TV, Channel 3, introduced Osmond.

Nancy Houssels and Wendy Plaster presented Osmond with the Woman of the Year ballerina bronze sculpture, and Mariam Afshai presented a Cartier Sterling silver plate. A Cartier VIP meet and greet with Osmond concluded the evening.
