Red Rock Canyon: On Wednesday, join an easy 3-mile Red Spring adventure along the boardwalk in search of migrant birds, then off onto nearby trails to seek out other wildlife. On Thursday, a moderate 4.4-mile hike explores White Rock at night to learn about nocturnal desert animals and constellations; this is a shuttle hike from Willow Springs to White Rock Loop for ages 12 and older (515-5350).
Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, call 228-0773, or visit the club's website at www.aroundthebendfriends.com.
OTHER PROGRAMS
Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, butterfly weekend ends at the visitors center with a table-top presentation of butterflies of Red Rock and the Mojave Desert. On Friday, volunteers are needed to help remove invasive plants that promote the spread of wildfires. On Saturday, youngsters ages 2-5 will learn about animals with wings. On June 5 , a table-top presentation will look at the mammals that live in the area.
