HIKES

Red Rock: On Monday, a 4-mile, moderate to strenuous hike with a 1,500-foot elevation gain at Trail Canyon trail. On Friday, a moderate 3-mile hike with a 950-foot elevation gain at Cathedral Rock (515-5367).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a 20-minute program ongoing between 1 and 3 p.m. on the flowers of Red Rock. On Friday, an interactive program for 2-6 year olds about baby animals of the Mohave Desert. On Saturday, a program for 6-12 year olds on Red Rock. Also Saturday, an ongoing program 10 a.m. to noon in the visitor center about the diversity of animals in Red Rock (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
