HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a 9-mile moderate to strenuous hike at Cottonwood Valley. On Wednesdayk a 3.5-mile hike moderate hike along the Arnight-Knoll Loop. On Friday, an easy hike at the Moenkopi Loop. On Saturday, a moderate three-mile hike through Red Spring (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www.aroundthebendfriends.com

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Thursday, volunteer to help clean up Red Rock trails. Also on Thursday, a 30-minute discussion on the geology of Red Rock Canyon at the visitor center. The program will be conducted twice an hour from 1-4 p.m. On Friday, a program for 2-10 year olds about cold weather in the desert. The program will feature a story and a craft. Also Friday, a 20-minute discussion ongoing from 1-3 p.m. at the visitor center on the reptiles of Red Rock Canyon. On Saturday, a program for 2-8 year olds on the tracks of desert animals. Also Saturday, an overview ongoing at the visitor center at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. about things to do at Red Rock Canyon (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects.
