Outdoor activities around Southern Nevada

HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, take a short walk on the Calico Hills Trail and learn about some of the plants and wildlife you encounter; for ages 12 and older. Also on Monday, join a geologist on a moderately strenuous, 2-mile hike to observe the Keystone Thrust Fault; for ages 10 and older. On Wednesday, observe and learn about wildflowers on a moderate, 3-mile hike along the Calico Hills Trail; for ages 15 and older.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a tabletop presentation will teach visitors about some of Red Rock’s most common lizards and snakes as well as which ones to avoid. On Tuesday, view some of the archaeological features found in Red Rock. On Saturday, join other volunteers to help trim trees, remove weeds and spruce up the visitor center landscape. Also on Saturday, learn about butterflies during a presentation at 10 a.m.
