HIKES
Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, join a geologist to discuss the geology, plants and animals encountered on a moderately strenuous, 3-mile hike into Ice Box Canyon; for ages 10 and older. The hike group will try to go as far as the waterfall, which requires some scrambling over boulders near the end of the trail. On June 23, hunt for the elusive Gila monster — an animal that spends 98 percent of its life underground — on a moderate, 3-mile hike at Calico Basin; for ages 12 and older.
Desert National Wildlife Refuge: On June 23, come along on an easy, half-mile walk at Corn Creek Spring, an excellent bird-watching area and prime habitat for aquatic plants and animals.
