Reader participation: Please share your Vegas do’s and don’ts

A little advice...

Capistrano has its swallows. Hinckley, Ohio, has its buzzards. And, when summertime arrives in Las Vegas, Las Vegas has its tourists .

And, hey, we love us some tourists. Call us easy, call us shallow, but we’re suckers for anybody who chooses to stop by and enrich our local economy .

In fact, we’re even happy to offer tourists a few formerly locals-only do’s and don’ts to make their visits here more pleasant.

Such as, check out afternoon shows to stretch your entertainment budget. Don’t be afraid to leave the Strip to broaden your menu of dining options. Don’t make eye contact with pamphlet peddlers on the Strip (it only encourages them). Don’t walk six abreast on the Strip (seriously, when did walking the Strip turn into Red Rover?). Do pack some good shoes and save the flip-flops for the pool, because the Strip is longer than it looks.

Oh, and in the name of all that is holy, don’t ever wear a muscle shirt to a show. This is Las Vegas. Have some respect.

Anyway, we’re confident that readers have some great do’s and don’ts — be they helpful, cautionary, snarky or merely the product of years of frustration bubbling to the surface — too. Share them with us and we’ll compile the best in an upcoming Sunday Living story.

Keep them concise, and send them to: Vegas Advice, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Features Section, P.O. Box 70, Las Vegas, NV 89125-0070. Or pass them along to jprzybys@reviewjournal.com (just be sure to put “Vegas Advice” in the subject line).

Either way, include your name, age, address and a daytime phone number (in case we have questions), and make sure we have them by 5 p.m. June 18.
