Renee West honored at juvenile diabetes research group gala

The Nevada Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation had its benefit May 7 at Mandalay Bay, honoring Renee West, president and chief executive officer of Mandalay Bay.

The event's theme was "...Imagine." A silent auction displayed more than 270 packages for bid that beckoned guests, including former Gov. Robert List and Polly List, Sandee and Jelindo Tiberti, Mollie and Berlyn Miller, Richard Worthington and Diane Boyle, Bonnie and Jose Blasco, Sue and Grover Ferguson, Marianna and Jerry Herbst, Flora and Stuart Mason, Nancy and Marshall Golden, Patti Iannuzzi and Bill Brown, Donna and Rick Hollander, Eileen and Tom Raney, Jody and Andrew Fonfa, Dana and Greg Lee, Liz and Tom Kaplan, Julie and Andy Gruber, Shelli and Bill Glalketsis, Janice and John Adams, Chuck Bowling, Marilee and Gary Doyle, Nitsa and George Fillos, Eleni and Spiros Fillos, Cathy Nordling, Jackie and Richard Singer, Pia Exber-Morris and Alan Morris, and Mikey Bilbray with daughters Bridget Phillips and Shannon Axelrod.

The evening's host, Chris Phillips, introduced Chris Haase, the foundation's Nevada chapter board president, and Ken Henderson, 2010 gala chairman. Special recognition was given to honoree Renee West, who is a supporter of the community and the foundation.

Entertainment was provided by Faith Lutheran Junior-Senior High School Bell Ringers and Honor Choral. Also, Best Agency's dancers, performers and the electric string quartet Bella. Randy Parnell of Stokes Auction conducted a live auction for 10 packages.

More guests attending were Kristen Dalton, Miss USA 2009; Zowie Bowie, Clint Holmes and Kelly Clinton, Cathy Haase, Sara and Bill Mason, Lisa and Rick Taylor, Leah and Anthony Twist, Gwen and Jim Mason, Shelley Mansholt, Sue and Lane Kay, Donna and Mike Levy, Lisa and Bill Werksman, Michael Seiff, Gary Doyle, Karen and Jeffrey Maresh, Kim and Ryan Peterson, Anne Dwyer, Cheryl and Wade Hymer, Olivia and Miguel Montenegro, Sue and Gordon Sarret, Andy Gruber, Alissa Kelly, Kevin Kyde, and Jodie Page. The event raised more than $630,000.
