THE LIST: DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week

DVDS

"No Country For Old Men" (R): Fresh from recent Academy Awards for best picture, best supporting actor, best director(s) and best adapted screenplay, Joel and Ethan Coen's "instant classic adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel" finds "deadpan humor on the blood-soaked trail of a crime spree gone wrong," according to Review-Journal movie critic Carol Cling, especially when "a good ol' boy (Josh Brolin) finds $2 million at the site of a botched drug deal -- and flees from a spectral psycho killer (a stunning, Oscar-winning Javier Bardem) who wants his money back. Tommy Lee Jones rounds out the superb starring trio as a sheriff who wonders where the code of the West went."

The single-disc release is available in both DVD and Blu-Ray.

Also out today: "August Rush" (PG); "Bee Movie" (PG); "Dan in Real Life" (PG-13); "Hitman" (R); "Nancy Drew" (PG); and "Sleuth" (R).

CDS

Rick Ross, "Trilla": He's the size of a fork lift, but even bigger than Rock Ross' beefy frame is his address book.

To wit, check out the guest list for the mountainous Miami rapper's sophomore LP, which boasts appearances from the likes of Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, R. Kelly and Andre 3000 and production by Lil Jon, Mannie Fresh, Dre and Cool and others. That's a lot of fire power, and Ross' deep, unflinching delivery is the smoking gun.

Also in stores: Randy Jackson, "Randy Jackson's Music Club, Volume 1"; Jaymay, "Autumn Fallin'"; Kaki King, "Dreaming of Revenge"; Mike Patton, "A Perfect Place"; Shawn Mullins, "Honeydew"; Presidents of the United States of America, "These Are the Good Times People"; Snoop Dogg, "Ego Trippin'"; and Various Artists, "Now That's What I Call Music 27."

BOOKS

"Another Thing to Fall" by Laura Lippman: The best-selling author of "What the Dead Know" and "No Good Deeds" returns with the 10th installment in her series featuring private investigator Tess Monaghan. This time, Tess finds herself in the role of bodyguard to the young star of a TV series. Unusual things begin happening on set, and everyone is a suspect after a crew member ends up dead in this murder mystery.

Also hitting shelves: "Killer Heat" by Linda Fairstein; "Why Good People Do Bad Things: How to Stop Being Your Own Worst Enemy" by Debbie Ford; "Dreamers of the Day" by Mary Doria Russell; and "Stop Whining, Start Living" by Laura C. Schlessinger.
