CDS
PJ Harvey, "White Chalk": Feminist fireplug, breathy seductress, bawdy rock queen, curvy provocateur: Polly Jean Harvey is woman, hear her roar.
A grim, stark effort, driven by Harvey's piano playing and her equally delicate and demanding voice, "White Chalk" is an album that swallows the sun and spits out dark sheaths of fractured pop.
As with other Harvey efforts, you won't know whether to shake your fists or shake in your boots.
