Torino Foundation provides experiences for ill children
Torino Foundation, a nonprofit organization, was founded on the principle that every child deserves the opportunity to experience childhood no matter how ill or challenged by extenuating circumstances. Torino Foundation invites hundreds of children each summer to Torino Ranch, where they experience summer camp through specialized programs and under medical supervision ensuring each person gets the chance to have fun, make friends and live life “normally,” while gaining lifelong memories.
Nestled in the Spring Mountains west of Las Vegas, Torino Ranch is an oasis with spring-fed streams, lakes and waterfalls, and organic fruit trees and gardens. The ranch features camper villages, a lodge and an amphitheater.
Every camp is residential, co-ed and “cost free” to the participants. The three- to four-day camp programs, which begin June 20, are geared toward children suffering from autism, visual impairment, physical and emotional challenges, and critical illnesses.
Expanding through the commitment of volunteers and donors, Torino Foundation offers camp experiences for teens and adults who were not able to have the chance in their youth. The final camp, scheduled Aug. 9-11, is for mothers and children of The Shade Tree, an organization helping those affected by domestic violence.
