Water Cooler

Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that we've been talking about lately.

n The Vatican includes "Thriller," "The Dark Side of the Moon" and "Revolver" on its list of desert island-worthy discs. Funny, because we'd have taken the Pope for a Rammstein guy.

n The United States wins its first-ever Olympic medal in Nordic combined, which mixes ski jumping and cross-country skiing. Lamest Wii game ever.

n Above-normal rainfall since January raises the level of Lake Mead more than a foot. Four or five more years of this and we can water ski again without bonking lazy trout on the head.

n British researchers say boredom is linked with a greater risk of early death from heart problems. But if you don't care anyway, isn't it kind of a wash?
