Water Cooler: Kim-Kanye baby, escort runner, Las Vegas new year

Here are a few items in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that caught our eye recently.

■ Kanye West and Kim Kardashian announce that they're having a baby. So maybe the Mayans were just a few days off.

■ Three-time Olympic middle-distance runner Suzy Favor Hamilton admits that she worked as a Las Vegas escort. And presumably was quite popular among that niche group of clients who find the scent of Ben-Gay to be a major turn-on.

■ A reported 300,000 people flock to Las Vegas to celebrate the arrival of 2013. Or maybe just to make sure that, like the Wicked Witch of the East, 2012 is not only merely dead, but really most sincerely dead.
