Water Cooler: Pop culture fun

Here are a few things in pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ A bill proposed in the Nevada Legislature would slap an 8 percent tax on all forms of live entertainment, including visits to brothels. Aren’t shame, regret and self-loathing payment enough already?

■ An ABBA museum opens in Stockholm. Long after you’ve left, memories of your visit will be stuck in your brain forever.

■ Law enforcement officials ask smartphone manufacturers to install a “kill switch” that would disable stolen phones. Already got a phone that can disable itself. It’s called an iPhone.

■ After a 17-year wait, the East Coast prepares for an attack by billions of red-eyed, buzzing cicadas. Makes our own scorpions, black widows and rattlesnakes seem almost cuddly in comparison.
