Young cancer patient just wants mail for birthday

A 5-year-old Massachusetts boy who turns six on Friday, isn’t asking for what most kids ask for on a birthday — he just wants some birthday cards.

And the Internet is helping him out after a #CardsForDanny campaign took off on social media. He’s received loads of mail already.

Danny Nickerson was diagnosed with a brain tumor last October that’s inoperable, according to KJRH.

“He had 33 radiations from November through December last year,” his mother, Carley Nickerson, told ABC News. “We are now getting chemo therapy every two weeks.”

Danny has also had to stop going to kindergarten and gets lonely, but his mom says that getting mail always makes him happy.

“He can recognize his name now,” she said. “When he saw his name on the package from magical fairies on Easter, he was so happy.”

A GoFundMe page was set up in Danny’s name and had raised over $25,000 of a $15,000 goal as of Thursday morning.

“WOW! We are blown away by all of the support! Thank you so much! Danny is going to have one heck of a birthday!” an update on the GoFundMe page read.

Cards and well wishes can be sent to Danny Nickerson, P.O. Box 212, Foxboro, MA, 02035.
