INTERNATIONAL SPORTSMEN'S EXPOSITION

Youth activities part of outdoor consumer show

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is partnering with the International Sportsmen's Exposition to bring the West's largest hunting, fishing and outdoor consumer show to the Las Vegas Convention Center on Feb. 2-4.

The show will feature more than 400 vendors spread out over 200,000 square feet.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's annual Elk Camp event will be held in conjunction with the Expo, and the NDOW Youth Fair will provide hands-on learning activities.

Nevada Department of Wildlife education staff, biologists, game wardens and volunteers will host 4,500 square feet of interactive learning experiences during the youth fair.

Activities will include fly-tying, the chance to see and feel animal furs, antlers and horns as well as learning more about the animals they came from. There also will be an opportunity to learn the principles of safe gun handling and shoot on an electronic simulator.

Staff also will be available to answer questions about hunting and fishing in Nevada, and the agency plans to sell hunting and fishing licenses on site.

There will be no entry fee for youth under 16 years of age.
