CSN to rename building for former president Paul Meacham

Building D at the College of Southern Nevada’s West Charleston campus is about to get longer name.

The Board of Regents voted unanimously on Thursday to name the building after Paul Meacham, the college’s longest president and the first black president of a college in Nevada.

Meacham, who attended Thursday’s meeting with his wife, said he could not have imagined that “a snotty-nosed boy from the red clay of Alabama would ascend to the position” of a building would be named after him.

Meacham said the honor was very special to him and his family.

A renaming ceremony will take place at a later date.
