Reno attorney Rick Trachok is the newest appointment to the state's Board of Regents, which governs Nevada's public higher education system.
Trachok will replace William Cobb, a Reno attorney who is leaving the Board after his appointment as a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
Gov. Brian Sandoval announced his appointment of Trachok on Friday.
"Rick will bring an understanding of the critical intersections between higher education, economic development, and our K-12 school reforms," the governor said in a statement.
Trachok is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, and a former Washoe County deputy district attorney. He has also taught college courses and served on the Sage Ridge School Board of Trustees for a decade. Sage Ridge is a college prep school in Reno.
