3 hurt in crash on southern 215 Beltway
Three people were hospitalized Tuesday after a multicar crash on the southern 215 Beltway near the Interstate 15 interchange, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
Five cars were involved in the crash that happened just after 9 a.m., NHP trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said. A white Kia 4-door sedan, a gray Lexus 4-door sedan, a red Kia van, a silver Scion 2-door car and a white Chevrolet 4-door vehicle were the cars involved, she said.
Three people were taken to University Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Just a few minutes earlier, another crash happened in the same area.
A gray Hyundai Sonata and a gray Kia Rio collided just before 9 a.m., Stuenkel said. No one was hurt.
Stuenkel said the second crash might have been a reaction to the first one, where someone may have slammed on their brakes, causing a chain reaction.
The impact of both crashes caused some delays on the Beltway near the Decatur Boulevard exit while crews were clearing the scene.
