4 U.S. prosecutors from Las Vegas get awards

Four federal prosecutors from Las Vegas were among almost 250 people honored during a Justice Department ceremony in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder presented awards to First Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Myhre and Assistant U.S. Attorneys James Keller, Phillip Smith Jr. and Timothy Vasquez on Wednesday at an awards event.

Myhre and Keller were recognized for the 2011 convictions of two Montana men, Rick Young and William Willard, in a securities fraud case involving more than 1,400 victims and high-risk foreign currency futures.

Smith and Vasquez were honored for their prosecution of former U.S. Navy SEAL Nicholas Bickle. He was convicted and sentenced to prison in 2012 for heading a scheme to sell machine guns, explosives and military hardware from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
