Best of Las Vegas is looking for you — looking at you

The first-ever selfie was taken in 1839 by American photographer Robert Cornelius, though it took a while to build momentum and gain the catchy name. But it has won a place in pop culture, as Twitter proclaimed 2014 “the year of the selfie.”

Rather than buck the trend, we’re going to give the people what they clearly want — more of themselves. The 2015 Best of Las Vegas winners edition magazine will be themed #selfie.

Starting Sunday, we’re asking readers to send in selfies at their favorite places in Las Vegas. Have a favorite sight on the Strip? A go-to poker room? Know of a killer burger? Show us your best!

Send high-resolution photos of yourself in your favorite places to editorial@bestoflasvegas.com. All appropriate photos will be featured online, and the best ones will be printed in the winners edition, out March 29.

You can also submit photos on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #BOLV.

It might be a good idea to check out current rankings at bestoflasvegas.com/vote, because photos taken in winning locations are more likely to make it into print.

Also, get voting. Rather than paper ballots this year, there are three ways to vote digitally: by text, through our mobile app or online at bestoflasvegas.com. The app is available on Google Play and the App Store at bestoflasvegas.com/app.

Businesses can request their text-to-vote codes, which enable customers to vote for particular businesses on location, at bestoflasvegas.com/feedback.

Voting ends Feb. 28 at 11:59 p.m. The businesses with the most votes at that time will be named winners for 2015.

So get started! Comb your hair, cast your votes and send us your selfie.
