HELLDORADO PARADE
STREET CLOSURES SCHEDULED

The Helldorado Parade marks the 106th anniversary of the founding of Las Vegas. Events are scheduled from Thursday through Sunday.

Between 4 and 10 p.m. Saturday, the Helldorado Parade will close Fourth Street between Charleston and Ogden avenues. Coolidge, Hoover and Gass avenues also are scheduled to be closed from Casino Center Boulevard to Fourth Street. For more information, call 229-6672 or visit elkshelldorado.com.

Through May 30, Mesquite Avenue is scheduled to be closed to traffic between Las Vegas Boulevard and Seventh Street. Also, Sixth and Seventh streets will be closed between Mesquite and Stewart Avenue. The closures are necessary as crews transform this area for the rodeo grounds.

Beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday through midnight Sunday, Stewart Avenue is set to be closed from Las Vegas Boulevard to Seventh Street to accommodate pedestrian traffic during Helldorado events.

Ward 3 candidates martinez, coffin to debate today at mesquite club

A runoff debate between Las Vegas City Council Ward 3 candidates Bob Coffin and Adriana Martinez is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. today at the Mesquite Club, 702 E. St. Louis Ave. Doors for the free event open at 6 p.m.

Trifecta Gallery to show 'In Other Words' exhibit

The Trifecta Gallery inside The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd., Suite 135, is scheduled to show "In Other Words" by artist Casey Weldon through May 28.

Valley Hospital approved for orthopedic surgery residency

Valley Hospital, 620 Shadow Lane, has been approved for an orthopedic surgery residency by the American Osteopathic Associations.

Entries due Saturday and Sunday in Red Rock Canyon photo contest

The Red Rock Canyon Annual Photo Contest has been held since 2002. This year's entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center.

Categories are Nature, Wildlife, Creative and Monochromatic. First prize is $100.

There is a ceiling cap of 100 entries per category. A teen nature/wildlife category has a top prize of $50.
