Temple Sinai of Las Vegas has announced that Heather Klein is the new cantorial soloist. Klein, a native of Las Vegas, is a classically trained singer who performs opera, Yiddish classical song, theater, folk music and other styles. For the past decade, she has performed across the U.S., Canada and Europe as a soloist and as part of various musical groups and opera companies.

Lily Sherman of Las Vegas was chosen as a state finalist in the pre-teen age division in the National American Miss Nevada/Utah Pageant, held July 10-11 in Las Vegas. She is the daughter of Lisa Sherman.

Brandon Polimeni, a Bishop Gorman High School student and a resident of Henderson, was selected to become a member of the National Society of High School Scholar June 22. He is the son of Jackie and Marcelo Polimeni of Henderson.

Conor Safbom of Las Vegas, a student at West Career & Technical Academy, was inducted into the Naval Academy class of 2019. He is the son of Daniel Safbom and Terri March-Safbom of Summerlin.

Abigail Ly, a senior at Southwest Career & Technical Academy, is the recipient of the 2015 Bank of Nevada Forward Together Scholarship. Ly was presented with the $3,000 scholarship at the Public Education Foundation’€™s Scholarship Recognition Luncheon on May 22.

Kiana Ishikawa of Henderson made the spring 2015 dean'€™s list at Mayville State University in Mayville, N.D.

Corynne McEachern was selected as Nevada's homecoming queen by America'€™s Homecoming Queen. She is Bishop Gorman High School's homecoming queen and is set to represent Nevada at the 35th annual America'€™s Homecoming Queen Selection, July 25. She is the daughter of Jeff and Christi McEachern. Residents can vote at americashomecomingqueen.com.

Thomas Campbell of Henderson made the spring 2014-15 provost's list at Troy University in Troy, Ala.

Ivan Sahagun of Las Vegas made the spring 2015 presidential honors list at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kan.

Andrew Laino of Las Vegas took first place in the Mathematics & Computer Science category in the sixth annual Colorado Mesa University Student Showcase, April 24.

Air Force Airman Justin M. Kandler graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. He is a 2013 graduate of Sierra Vista High School.

Alexis Rae Stallings of Las Vegas graduated May 17 from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va.

Army Pvt. Cartiae K. Ketchup graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Ketchup is the son of Carter and Latonya Ketchup of Las Vegas. He is the grandson of Dennis Williams of Las Vegas.

Cheryl Iddings and Jenifer Yowell, both of Las Vegas, made the spring 2015 honor roll and Stephanie Herman of Las Vegas made the president’€™s list at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

Air Force Airman Richard P. Fields graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Fields is the stepson of John Weaver and husband of Hayley E. Fields of North Las Vegas. He is a 2010 graduate of Northwest Career and Technical Academy.

Chaim Kind, Katherine Duffy and Kylie Shaw, all of Henderson, and Kamil Taylor-Diggs, Alexandra Arguello and Sahar Nawabzada, all of Las Vegas were initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Devan Rori Sullivan of Henderson made the spring 2015 dean's list at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

Marisa Magnotta of Las Vegas graduated May 23 from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Air Force Airman Christina M. Ensley graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Ensley is the daughter of Jeanne Ensley of Las Vegas and graduated in 2012 from Oasis Christian Academy.

Army Pvt. April N. DiLiberto graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. DiLiberto is the daughter of Brett and stepdaughter of Trina DiLiberto of Las Vegas.

Benjamin Ayivorh of North Las Vegas and Jeremy Chapin of Las Vegas made the spring 2015 dean'€™s honor roll at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan.

Matthew Chilman of Las Vegas made the spring 2015 honors list at Concordia University in Nebraska.
