The Clark County Medical Society recognized two recipients for its 2015 Student Rising Star Award that honors outstanding medical students studying in Nevada. This year's recipients are Lindsey Murphy from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and Robert Wills from Touro University Nevada College of Medicine.
The International School of Hospitality announced that Executive Director Timothy M. Lam was named president of the Foundation of the National Association for Catering and Events.
Rodney Morrow, director of sales at Green Valley Ranch Resort, was selected as the recipient of the seventh annual Destination Champion Award. The award, which recognizes and encourages excellence in the Henderson hospitality community, was presented by Mayor Andy Hafen at the June 2 City Council meeting.
Angela Naeth of Las Vegas set a course record in the Ironman Texas North American Championship on May 16. Her victory secured a spot for her in October's Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
Rhea M. Watson, an adult education advocate and who works as a literacy trainer for the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, was elected the Commission on Adult Basic Education's Region 7 representative by the organization's national membership. She will represent Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming at national board meetings.
Mike Mixer, executive managing director of Colliers International — Las Vegas, announced in May that the company's 21st annual Links for Life Charity Golf Tournament raised more than $75,000 for children's charities in Southern Nevada. Gaudin Motor Company honored employee Kersh Miller for 56 years of service with Gaudin Ford of Las Vegas during a retirement celebration and luncheon June 1. Miller received a plaque for his service and a 2014 Ford Flex Limited All Wheel Drive.
