Reader shares concerns about destruction of Hobbit Wash
Thanks for your article today (“Overlooked wash seeing potential eradication,” Aug. 25 East Valley View).
The destruction of natural habitats in this area is unacceptable. The intentional or unintentional running down of these areas to where they can be reclassified is unacceptable. The health of our community flows from intangibles like those derived from areas like this Hobbit Wash, which are so easily shoved aside by money interests.
It is a travesty that old decrepit buildings continue to stand while developers seem free to run over whatever they can. There should be a moratorium on large-scale or high-impact developments on any undeveloped land until land where vacant and/or condemned buildings reside are cleaned up and put to good use.
