Las Vegas police officer suffers minor injury during foot chase

A Metropolitan Police officer was injured during a Tuesday morning foot chase in the central valley.

Two officers stopped a man just after 4 a.m. Tuesday near Sahara Avenue and Lynnwood Street, according to Lt. David Gordon.

As the man attempted to take his ID out of his pockets, he dropped what appeared to be a bag of drugs on the ground. He took off running, Gordon said, and the officers followed.

One of the officers was injured while attempting to reach out and grab the man. He fell but the other officer continued the chase.

The injured officer was taken to the hospital to be examined.

The other officer chased down a 53-year-old man on a nearby residential street, where he was arrested, Gordon said.
