Man arrested after standoff in northwest Las Vegas

A knife-wielding man refusing to leave a garage prompted a Metro SWAT response to a northwest valley neighborhood Sunday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.

Officers were called to a home on Old Oxford Avenue, near North Torrey Pines and Peak drives, on a domestic disturbance call about 10:15 a.m., police logs show.

The situation escalated when the man refused to come out of a garage, Metro spokesman Jesse Roybal said. SWAT was called in about 2 p.m.

The incident ended about 3 p.m. when the man was arrested, Roybal said.
