Motorcyclist critically injured after crash at Pecos and Gowan

A motorcyclist was hospitalized with critical injuries after a crash with another vehicle Wednesday morning, Las Vegas police said.

The crash happened about 5:50 a.m. near the intersection of Pecos and Gowan roads, police said.

A 2015 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was northbound on Pecos when a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am southbound on Pecos turned in front of the motorcycle to go east on Gowan.

The motorcycle struck the right front side of the Pontiac and overturned. The motorcyclist, 25-year-old Las Vegas man Bradford Carrington, was thrown from the Kawasaki and landed in the roadway.

Carrington was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, the Metropolitan Police Department wrote in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

UMC spokeswoman Danita Cohen confirmed Carrington was in critical condition just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Metro Lt. David Gordon originally said Carrington had broken bones but no life-threatening injuries.

The Pontiac’s driver, 21-year-old Christopher Brown, stayed at the scene of the crash and didn’t show signs of impairment, police wrote in the release.
