Motorcyclist killed in Sunday crash near Overton identified

A motorcyclist who died Sunday in a crash on State Route 169 in Overton, about 60 miles northeast of Las Vegas, has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

He is Michael West Owen, 57, of Henderson, the coroner’s office said Monday.

Troopers responded at 2:57 p.m. Sunday to the crash on State Route 169, where a black Harley Davidson left its lane and crossed through a right paved shoulder into a rocky area, NHP said. The bike flipped and struck a guardrail to the west of the roadway.

Owen was thrown from the motorcycle and also hit the guardrail. He was pronounced dead there, an NHP news release said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, NHP said.

This was the 23rd fatal crash in NHP’s jurisdiction this year.
