North Las Vegas police arrest man in fatal shooting

A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a July 3 shooting that left one man dead and a teen girl injured, North Las Vegas police said.

Miquan Burton, 18, is accused of shooting Tyrell Melton, 18, who was standing with a group of friends, including a 14-year-old girl in the 4800 block of Via Maria Court, near North Commerce Street and Lone Mountain Road, police said.

Melton died at the scene and the girl ran into a house, police said.

After being arrested Tuesday morning, Burton was booked at the Las Vegas city jail on four felony charges, including murder and attempted murder.

The shooting remains under investigation and police said it appears to be gang related.
