Pedestrian hit by car, seriously injured near downtown

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and seriously injured Friday night, closing Eastern Avenue near Fremont Street while police investigate the crash, Las Vegas police said.

First responders were called about 6:30 p.m., Metro Lt. Harry Demetres said. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with apparent serious injuries, he said.

Eastern was shut down Fremont to 25th Street, Demetres said. It wasn't immediately clear when it would reopen.
